More on Calories

Want to lose one pound? It takes a deficit of 3,500 calories to accomplish this. So, to lose one pound per week you should cut 500 calories per day from your diet (or exercise more to burn it off).

I wasn't sure how many calories I should be eating in a day so I found this website:
Check it out here! You just have to enter your weight/height/activity level and it will calculate, in theory, how many calories you need... BUT I think the number it gave me is too high so I'm not sure how accurate it is.

  1. Ok, the calculator told me 2105!!! That does seem pretty high. It IS annoying to constantly count them. Becomes too much of a task!

Plus you can't just go based on a "number," per se. It's what your calorie count consists of that is probably more important. Like, I could get my 2105 calories eating a chick-fil-a biscuit, hamburger from micky d's, and ice cream for dinner but will I maintain my weight then?? hmmm.... Need to ask my expert on this topic ;)

  2. C-Line... I agree about "what" you eat, not just calories! Do you have an iphone? There's a calorie-counter app I really like... Livestrong.com.

  3. No iphone.... Honestly, I don't pay much attention to calories. I count protein, carbs, and fat...

Ideally, one of my 3 meals a day should have:
less than 10 g of fat
    between 20-40 carbs
at least 18 g of protein

Seems like it'd be hard to keep up with, but I just sat down one day and wrote down all foods/combination of foods that meet this criteria, and by now I just kinda have stuff memorized. If I wanted to lose or tone more, I'd be very very strict (which I need to start doing in the next couple of weeks!).

Phew.. I'm tired from writing this comment,ha!
